Terms
The licence agreement for Director. Last updated 28 September 2026.
1. Who we are
Director is made by Jimi Vaubien, an individual developer in Switzerland ("we"). You can reach us at support@getdirector.app. Payments are processed by Stripe, which acts as the merchant of record: it sells the licence to you, takes the payment, charges any tax and issues the receipt.
2. The free version
You may download and use Director for free, for as long as you like. Without a licence, exports are limited to 720p and carry a watermark.
3. The licence
A licence is a one-time purchase. It gives you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use Director, for personal or commercial work, on up to two Macs at a time. You may move it between Macs by deactivating one. The videos you make with Director are yours, with no restriction from us.
You may not share your licence key, sell or sublicense it, or work around the licence check or the watermark.
4. Updates
A licence includes the updates released during one year from the date of purchase. Versions released in that year keep working for ever. After it, you may renew for another year of updates; renewing is optional.
5. Price and payment
The price is shown on the website before you buy, excluding VAT or sales tax, which Stripe adds at checkout where it applies. There is no subscription and nothing is charged again without you asking.
6. Refunds and withdrawal of a licence
You may ask for a full refund within 14 days of purchase, without giving a reason (see Refunds). When a payment is refunded, or reversed by a chargeback, the licence is withdrawn and Director returns to the free version on the Macs it was active on. We may also withdraw a licence that is shared or used against these terms.
7. Your recordings
Director works on your Mac. Your recordings and projects stay there, and we have no access to them. Keeping backups of your work is your responsibility. What we do collect is described in the privacy policy.
8. No warranty, and limits of liability
Director is provided as it is. We work to make it reliable, but to the extent the law allows, we give no warranty that it will be free of errors or suited to a particular purpose, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as lost data or lost profit. Our total liability is limited to the price you paid. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law that cannot be limited, including consumer protection law.
9. Changes
We may update these terms; the date at the top says when they last changed. Changes do not take away what you have already bought: a licence keeps the Macs and the year of updates it was sold with.
10. Law
These terms are governed by Swiss law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
